“Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.”
Prentis Hemphill
Mindful Wellness Psychotherapy offers private individual psychotherapy services to adults and adolescents who struggle with anxiety, stress management, depression, loss, relationship issues, change, and life transitions.
Additionally, we specialize in working with clients who experiences symptoms associated with ADHD and/or those who have been impacted by narcissism, antagonism, and narcissistic abuse.
I provide a tailored approach to address the specific needs of individual clients. As such, I integrate techniques from various therapeutic models that are relevant to specific client needs.
I believe that client strengths are important therapeutic factors that may be leveraged to promote change and to increase autonomy. Additionally, I understand that early and ongoing interactions with caregivers impact childhood and adult attachment styles, which subsequently influence our interactions in relationships. As such, I take a strength-based approach while primarily working within person-centered and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) from a trauma-informed lens. Additionally, I integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy, somatic therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and narrative therapy.
My approach is collaborative in nature and requires client agreement and dedication to work toward achieving goals. Clients are empowered and encouraged to direct sessions to focus on issues that they deem to be relevant and important. I look forward to hearing your story and working toward healing, acceptance, and change.
A note on mindfulness: Mindfulness requires an active and engaged awareness of present circumstances. It includes the practice of bringing awareness and acceptance to thoughts and feelings without perceiving them as good or bad. At Mindful Wellness Psychotherapy, mindfulness practices are discussed and encouraged as they may be leveraged to address self-criticism, shame, guilt, and judgment.
